This summer The Metropolitan Museum of Art in collaboration with the Good School will be offering a free Stop-Motion Animation Lab for 7-12 yos. June 29-July 2, 1-5pm.
Check out the details that follow and RSVP by June 6, 2015
First-time participants ages 7-12
June 29-July 2, 1-5pm (participants must be able to attend all sessions)
Where:The Metropolitan Museum of Art
1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10028
Uris Center for Education
At The Museum, kids will work in teams to explore the theme of “Inside/Out.”  Participants will learn about works of art in the galleries and create their own narrative using stop-motion animation and Dragonframe software.  You can see examples of animations created by kids last summer on the #MetKids Youtube Playlist.  You can also get an idea of what the kids did last year in this Behind-the-Scenes video.
Last Day Celebration:
Join us to celebrate your child’s work in Animation Lab.  Parents/guardians, siblings, and friends will be invited to a final presentation and reception in the afternoon on Thursday, July 2nd.
Participants will be given a link at the end of the lab to access their finished animation on-line.  The Museum will also share the animations on the Museum’s website, and The Good School will share the animations of their website.  In the fall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will invite participants and their families back to the Museum for a reception and mini film festival of their work.
Snacks:  A supervised snack period will be built into each day.  Vegetarian snacks will be provided by the museum.
We do expect that all participants will commit to attending the program in its entirety, June 29-July 2, 1-5pm.  To register, the child’s parent/guardian should fill out the online Google form http://goo.gl/forms/B29BSqnrwt.  If the parent/guardian has any difficulties filling out the form, follow the instructions below.
Email Emlily at emily.sutter@metmuseum.org with your child’s name, age (7-12 years old), school, and contact info for the child’s parent/guardian.
Please let us know if the child will be able to travel to and from The Metropolitan Museum of Art (82nd & 5th Ave.) for all 4 days of the program.  If the child needs to receive a subsidized metro card to attend all 4 days of the program, we need to be informed in the email so we can provide one.
Please RSVP by June 6th.  Seats are limited, and reservations are first come, first serve.  No prior animation experience is necessary.
Kids are just asked to bring themselves and their imaginations.
We look forward to seeing your kids at The Met!
