Very Sad News

Dear Families,

We are passing on some very sad news about two EVCS families that have suffered a great tragedy. A recent fire has left both families displaced. One family has lost their home and everything in it while the others are still waiting to find out what is salvageable. Many details are still being sorted out around this disorientating event, but we are thankful that everyone is safe.

We are reaching out to you for any temporary housing options. If you or anyone of you know who has an empty apt or a space that might be available now or in the near future, please contact James at jamesevcspc@gmail.com or 212 982 0682 x2102. Thank you. We are waiting to hear what the families need before setting up any collections. Many thanks again for your help.

Next Week at EVCS 01.11.16 – 01.15.16 and Beyond

Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 12.05.00 PMDear Families

Just as we all get sorted for arctic winter, it changes. At least now we are ready. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts!

Re: Markers
At the beginning of the year we asked everyone to bring in old crayons that were no longer being used to help keep them out of the landfills. Oddly enough it turns out that we do not have many crayons floating around. We decided to shift gears to markers. Please bring in any old or dried out markers and we will recycle them! There will be a collection box in room 210. We will run this collection effort for two weeks. Thank you in advance for participating.

Taking Pause to notice… on the 4th floor at EVCS

IMG 9149Dear Parents

I was walking through the hall Tuesday on the 4th floor and I took a few moments to stop and look around. I came across an interesting bulletin board and I took in some great art work by one of the 2nd graders.
The photo above is a little detail into some of the pieces.
I simply had to share.

Could this be your child?
Could this be your student?
Could this be you?

Thank you Megan Kennedy, EVCS Guidance Couselor for posting these.

Have a great day.

AT EVCS – We go outside! Even during cold months

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 2.24.30 PMHAPPY NEW YEAR!

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

At EVCS, we feel strongly about Children Playing Outside
even in the Winter Months!

Now that the temperatures have dropped, it’s time to be sure your kids are dressed warmly. Please include hats, scarves, mittens or gloves, insulated coats and boots with warm socks. Layering is also a good idea. If you are sending in a dry pair of shoes or socks please be sure to remind your child and or your teacher.

Please clearly label all of your items.

We do take the kids outside on cold days and they need to be prepared.

Welcome to Kindergarten Admissions!

Dear EVCS Families

The application period is now open through January 15, 2016.

If you have a child born in 2011 who will be starting kindergarten in September 2016 please apply online before January 15, 2016.
To apply online go to this link.

All applications received by the January 15 deadline are treated the same—the application process is not first-come, first-served.

All kindergarten applications are handled directly by the Department of Education. Placement offers will be distributed by the DOE in March, 2016, and followed by in-person registration at East Village Community School in early April.

EVCS Pre-K Parents Please Note:

You must complete a kindergarten application for your child in order to be considered in the first round of placements at East Village Community School.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or email myself or Bradley, or stop by the main office.

All the best,

James
