and we are not sure when the main line will be back up.
Please use this number until further notice

We had a great week and played outside every day!
Be sure to layer up and dress warm on cold days – we still go outside!
Remember to label all items so that we can reunite them with your kids.

LICE ALERT Pro-Active Action!

Dear Parents,

Many of you may already know that EVCS proactively tries to prevent lice and nits among the student body. Lice are a part of public school life. Please help by being aware.

Being independently diligent is the only way we can keep them under control. It is in our own best interest to be aware and take action. If you find that your child has lice, we ask that you please let your teacher and the parent coordinator know. When there are multiple cases noted in a class, we call in technicians to do a formal lice check at school.

The following link provides information on DOE’s official “head lice” policy and how to detect and eradicate nits and lice should you find it among your children: Head Lice Policy (All schools)

Summer, as you all know, will be here before we know it. If you’re looking for programs and doing your planning now for your kids, here is a directory of some of the ones our students have attended as well as a few new options. Please call the ones you are interested in as soon as possible, as they may fill up quickly. Many have scholarships available.

As I hear of other programs I will pass along the info to you, and if you know of camps that you would like to recommend, please share them with us and we will add them to our listings.

Good luck with planning a terrific summer.

Third Street Open House May 22nd, 1-4pm – Save the Date!

Dear EVCS Families

Third Street Music School is hosting its annual open house on Sunday, May 22nd, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at its building on 235 East 11th Street near 2nd Avenue. Partner School Students ages 6 (by December 31, 2016) to 14 will be able to meet teachers, try out instruments, and apply for free and reduced-rate group classes for the fall.

A $40 non-refundable application fee per family, paid by cash or check, is due at the time of application. Interested children must attend the event and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The program is open to children age six (by December 2016) to fourteen, who have never been enrolled at Third Street.
Placement is not guaranteed; every effort will be made to place each child in one of his or her activity choices.

Parners@3rd classes are tuition-free for students during the first year of instruction at Third Street. Second year instruction is discounted, and financial aid is available for years three and beyond.

Flyers will go home as a reminder after Spring Break.

EVCS: A few reminders…

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Re: Dismissal in the Yard
School dismissal is at 2:50 pm. We need all caregivers and parents to pick up their children on time and immediately exit the yard. With this beautiful weather, we understand the kids instinct to gravitate to the play area however, it interferes with our ability to differentiate between the kids who are staying for afterschool and the kids who are leaving.
Thank you for your understanding.

REMINDER: School Surveys deadline is Friday, APRIL 1

Screen Shot 2016-03-01 at 12.57.31 PMDear Teachers, Parents and Guardians,

The NYC School Survey is due by this Friday, April 1.

If you have lost survey materials, please call
the Survey Hotline at 1-800-690-8603

Review the FAQ below and continue to send your questions via email to surveys@schools.nyc.gov. A webinar, as well as a slide deck and Quick Reference Guide with key information regarding the NYC School Survey is available at www.nycschoolsurvey.org.

Many thanks for all of your support thus far!
If you have filled out your form, Thank you!

Families with more than 1 child in the SAME school should only fill out one survey for the OLDEST child in that school. This survey helps the DOE focus on how to improve the schools.

Parent surveys are in green envelopes.
Every family was given an envelope at your Parent Teacher Conference. Please take a few minutes to fill it out and mail it in the return envelope. If you prefer you can complete it online here using the individualized access code on your paper survey.

We encourage all families to complete a survey.
Please take the time to do this, it’s important.

So far, we are at 41% of our parent body participation. We can do better! Our goal is 100% participation. Let your voice be heard!

Thank you.
