EVCS PA Diversity Committee meeting, Thursday, March 26

Come to the next EVCS PA Diversity Committee meeting, Thursday, March 26 at 5:30 pm, room 406, to work with Ama Codjoe, associate director of the DreamYard Art Center in the Bronx and lead teacher for the ACTION Project, an arts and activism program for high school students.

In Codjoe’s workshop, “Watering the Seeds of Racial Justice,” participants will be ask to examine, reflect, and discuss constructions of race, privilege, and power in an effort to more effectively advocate for equity. Parents and educators will leave the interactive two-hour workshop with an understanding of key definitions and having watered the seeds of racial justice through authentic dialogue. Come ready to risk, move, learn, and share.

Please join us THIS THURSDAY for a very special Parents Association meeting.

5:30 in the lobby- refreshments and mix with fellow parents
6:00 in the auditorium- important PA business, including budget proposals and upcoming events
6:30 in the auditorium- speaker Sally Lee

Sally Lee, CWS parent and Executive Director of Teachers’ Unite, an organization committed to creating restorative justice models within NYC public schools, will speak about desegregation efforts in District 1 schools. We will also explore how the CWS & EVCS can join forces in various diversity efforts.

The EVCS Diversity Committee works to ensure that diversity, in all its forms, is respected and valued by fostering and promoting an environment of inclusiveness. As part of this initiative, we want to get a better sense of our community’s views, experiences and needs.
