After School Opportunities

After School at EVCS
We are thrilled to reboot our after school program here in the building this year. 
We are partnering with Green Apple Kids to offer programming 5 days a week until 6:00 p.m.  For more information please fill out the information form here. The program may say it is SOLD OUT however, please feel free to reach out to get your name on a waitlist!

In addition to the GAK program we will also be hosting a range of other after school options on certain days of the week at EVCS. Some will be free for selected students, including drumline, cheer squad, and extra academic support. Other activities will be fee-based enrichment programs with partner organizations, including a MAPS, CHESS, and THEATRE.

EVCS Chess Club 
Open to students who attend East Village Community School.
Classes will be in person at EVCS. 
Starting October 4, 2021. Mondays after school from 2:50 pm – 4:30 pm until February 14, 2022.We will be meeting weekly to hone our critical thinking skills with extra practice, instruction, and fun activities. Have questions? Please Email Stephanie at cost is $295 and you can register here now!

We are excited to welcome back Child’s Play NY
to run a theater program at EVCS after school on Fridays, for grades 2-5.
This year they will be doing VillainoUS: A New Play by Keurim Hur. Evil fairies, wicked stepmothers, vengeful sorcerers and big bad wolves!
Fairy tale villains finally get the chance to set their stories straight by taking the spotlight for themselves. This original play, with movement and dance, reimagines classic tales from new points of view and celebrates all that is righteously rebellious within us.

Sixth Street Youth Programs (SSYP), is an arts, creative writing, urban gardening and cooking based after school program for youth ages 5/6 and up. SSYP provides daily time for homework support, and quality enrichment workshops in an intimate class setting. With a capped enrollment of 20 students per day, each child receives thoughtful guidance and support that is needed to foster their individual and creative growth.

Location: Sixth Street Community Center, 638 E 6th Street, between Avenues B and C.
