Dear EVCS Families,

We hope everyone had another great week of school!

Thank you to those who made it out to the Monthly PA meeting this past week! A timely request was sent out from the PA about a vote needed to approve author visits for all of our kids this year. You should have received the meeting link from the papresident@evcsnyc.org – please attend to vote on this updated budget line. This PA Meeting will be on Wednesday, February 3 at 5 p.m at this link. For details and more information about the author visits, check out the flyer here. Thank you to Melanie Kletter and Nicole Robson for helping make this happen – and to all of you, in advance, as part of our wonderful PA.

February is Black History Month and it will kick it off next week with Black Lives Matter Week of Action. We will be endorsing the national Black Lives Matter at School Week February 1-5. The books we will be reading this year are Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry, illustrations by Vashti Harrison, Kamala Harris: Rooted in Justice by Nikki Grimes, illustrations by Laura Freeman, and Peaceful Fights for Equal Rights written by Rob Sanders and illustrated by Jared Andrew Schorr.

If you have not done so already, please take the Fall 2020 School Experience Survey. You can find more information about the survey here. To find EVCS in the drop-down, look for THE East Village Community School.

Let’s see what next week looks like…
