This Saturday, March 24th, New York Families are joining kids and families across the country to demand an end to gun violence in our communities in March for Our Lives.

While there is a big march in Washington, New York City is hosting our own sibling march this Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm, beginning on 72nd Street and Central Park West and heading Southwards. More details regarding march logistics will be announced to the press on Thursday so stay tuned and please read below. Remember weekend trains can shift so check ahead.

What you can do with your kids:

*Join EVCS kids on Friday for sign making in preparation for the rally–location TBA, probably 2nd floor

*March with fellow EVCS’ers and friends…

*or join Tompkins Square Middle School whose PA is meeting up at 10am on 77th and Central Park West in front of Shake Shack and invited us to join them. (Click here for their flyer)

*Go with family and friends and join the larger crowd.

*Consider postcard writing campaigns

*Talk with family members in an age and developmentally appropriate way that works for you!

Note that organizers have announced that:

On March 24, the kids and families of March For Our Lives will take to the streets to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today. We are asking you to begin arriving at 10 AM.

IMPORTANT: ENTER Central Park West at 72nd Street! There’s no entrance to the staging area below 72nd street. We are asking you to begin arriving at 10 AM at this entrance way. If necessary and depending on crowd size, the NYPD will push the entrance upwards so you may need to go to 70th. OUR RALLY AND SPEAKERS WILL BEGIN AT 11 AM. Public Transport to West 72nd Street: 1, 2, 3 train station is 2 blocks away B and C trains stop on Central Park West.

Please be aware that the usual NYC marching rules apply:

try to avoid big bags, be prepared for NYPD search

– use cardboard tubes to mount your sign, no wood or metal –

please take home everything you brought!
