Getting Ready for School!

Dear Families,

We are very excited to start another great year with all of you next week! A few important announcements in the meantime:

The first day of school is Wednesday, September 9.

Pre-K/K arrival and dismissal on the first 2 days of school:
PreK Students will go directly to their classroom with their parents at 8:30. Dismissal for Pre-K only is at 11:30 from the classroom.

Kindergarten students will gather in the school yard and their parents may walk up with their children and their class to the classroom. Dismissal for Kindergarten is at 1:20 on Wednesday 9/9 only. Kindergartners will have regular dismissal time beginning Thursday 9/10.

1-5 Students will say goodbye to their parents in the school yard and walk up to their classrooms with their teachers at 8:30. Dismissal for grades 1-5 is at our regular time, 2:50 beginning the very first day of school.

Regular arrival routine:

Our official start time is 8:30 am. Students are invited to arrive as early as 8:00 am for a free breakfast in the cafeteria or free play time in the school yard. We will have EVCS staff in both of those areas supervising, so parents are welcome to drop kids off then or stay and hang out until the bell rings.

The bell rings at 8:30 am, at which point the students will line up with their classes in their designated spots and the teachers will take the students up to the classrooms to start the day.

Regular Dismissal Routine:

Dismissal is at 2:50 pm — Please pick-up in the yard each day.

We ask that everyone make a strong effort to pick up their children on time. Please be mindful of your child and the school providers to help us keep the schedules running smoothly. We appreciate your support here.

Indoor arrival/dismissal:

Please note that we will always make an effort to have our regular outdoor arrival/dismissal routines, but will revert to our indoor routine if the weather or safety conditions in the yard prevent us from being outside. In the event that we have indoor arrival, our younger students can be dropped off directly in their classrooms and the older students can go up on their own from the cafeteria at 8:25. If students arrive before 8:25 they can stay in the cafeteria. In the afternoon, students will wait in their classrooms to be picked up by their caregivers. To minimize traffic in the building we ask that during indoor arrival/dismissal parents try to use the entrance to the building right off our schoolyard, at the top of the ramp.
Re: Meeting Friends Before School Starts!
Some classes are getting together at local parks or playgrounds to get acquainted. This is a great way to reunite the kids, meet new families and set the year off in a positive way. If any parents are interested or need help connecting, please reach out to me.
