If you have a sibling who will be ready to start kindergarten in September, the application period is from January 7 to February 13, 2015. For a full list of frequently asked questions and answers, click here.

The Big Apple Awards: Recognizing Teacher Excellence in New York City are underway. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, January 17th, 2014. The Big Apple Awards recognize teachers who inspire students, model great teaching, and enrich their school community. Award recipients will receive a classroom grant for their students and schools. Reminders This Short Week at EVCS

Good Morning Everyone

This week is very short!
Monday and Tuesday will be regular days with dismisal at 2:50pm
EVCS Afterschool will be here as usual on both days until 6:00pm.

Winter recess begins on Wednesday, December 23rd.
School resumes on Monday, January 5th.

Today there will be a Bake Sale in the yard in the morning and after school! Support our 5th grade camping trip! You will be a fifth grader one day too! Muffins, Coffee, & Books/Gifts in the Morning 8-8:45 and Sigmund’s Pretzels, Cookies, Hot Cocoa, Coffee & Books/Gifts in the afternoon 2:30-3:15.

For those looking ahead to Kindergarten, even if your child currently attends EVCS in PreK, you will still need to apply to Kindergarten
Kindergarten Admissions
Apply between January 7 and February 13 in one of three ways:

1) Online, on this website, in ten languages
2) Over the phone
3) In person, at a Family Welcome Center
Interpretation services will be provided in over 200 languages for the over-the-phone and in-person options.

Sally Lee, CWS parent and Executive Director of Teachers’ Unite, an organization committed to creating restorative justice models within NYC public schools, will speak about desegregation efforts in District 1 schools. We will also explore how the CWS & EVCS can join forces in various diversity efforts.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS Tomorrow Wednesday, December 17

Festival of Lights 9:00 am to 10:30 am

Please join us in the auditorium tomorrow morning for our Annual Festival of Lights! The Pre-K Class will begin and each class will perform for approximately 10 minutes accompanied by our own parent band!

BAKE SALE  Our 4th Grade Class will be hosting a bake sale and selling coffee.


Our Centennial Calendar will be on sale for $15. With archival photos of our school and neighborhood from the past 100 years, it’s a perfect gift for family and friends.

Parent Band Practice
Tuesday, December 16th at 6:00 in the auditorium
Hello, musical parents! The family band is holding its final practice for the Festival of Lights at 6PM tomorrow (Tuesday) night in the school auditorium. We’ll run through and troubleshoot our song list for Wednesday. Hope to see you there!

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Wednesday, December 17th 9:00 – 10:45am
Each class will be performing. It will be about 10 minutes per grade.
Beginning with PreK followed by K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
The Parent Band will be playing during change overs!
