- Lice checks – go through each class and check, follow up 1 week later
James is thinking about a workshop for parents on how to teach them how to keep kids lice free. Make sure lice people are more efficient. Make sure parents in class are informed
- Check to see if we can meet in auditorium because of noise
1. Still waiting on roof to be checked. Must do water test, then scaffolding can come down.
2. Advocacy for parents to do for tree of knowing and blacktop on playground. May need to press on DOE to make them replace it.
3. Back stairs a lot of damage. Trying to get them to replace them.
4. Mice coming out during the day in classrooms

GENERAL PARENT ASSOCIATION MEETING
February 27, 2014
5:30 – 8:30pm
The meeting began with refreshments in the lobby.
The Parent Association hosted a guest speaker who presented on the subject of Gender Expression in children. The event was attended by about 40 parents and staff and was held in the auditorium.
At the end of the presentation and Q &A, Moira asked parents to stay for a few minutes to vote on an important item.
She gave a brief description of the STAR /NightSTAR program that is a theater based social/health education program for students. We are interested in bringing the program to our school [this year?] for our 4th and 5th graders. The cost to the Parent Association would be $5,000.
A motion was made to vote for or against this program and related expense. The majority of parents who were present voted to approve.
Tricia clarified to parents that we are effectively voting to amend the budget for this item. The current operating budget for the year is about $60,000 of which about $45,000 has been raised to date.
No further agenda items discussed.
Book donations will be accepted starting TOMORROW MORNING (Friday)
The book sale will be held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning of next week
The proceeds from the Book Sale will benefit the Parent Association’s general fund. We appreciate your contribution.
