PA meeting minutes 01/22/14

Steven (fundraising chair) told everyone he is making another push for family contributions, we need $10,000 more to reach our goal of $30,000 for the year.

Tricia (Treasurer) reminded parents why we need money in our budget and what it pays for (music, theater)

James announced that the Jubilee will be held Feb. 7 at Tammany Hall with music performances that will be announced at a later date.

Also, the first meeting for our May fundraising Gala is Jan. 28 after drop off in the cafeteria.

The SLT is working to create a school-wide policy on homework. It will be clear and consistent for all grades. There is not yet a consensus about what the policy should be. We had an interesting discussion with parents and many shared ideas and tossed around approaches and thoughts on creating small homework groups, a lot of ideas flowing. As the conversation continues…

Tammany Hall here we come! Isn’t it about time parents go out and play. Details are coming together and we hope that everyone will be up for a fun night in support of evcs! Stay tuned for more details! WE ARE LOOKING for an ESPECIALLY “BIG TICKET” ITEM or something fun you would want to win!! The item is for a raffle prize to help support the the winter benefit concert. If you have any ideas or solutions please let us know asap!

Even if you are currently enrolled as a Pre-K student, you need to put in the application for the 2014-15 school year. If your child was born in 2009, you can apply now. Applications close February 14, 2014.

The Children’s Arts Guild is an afterschool program for boys of all elementary school ages. Some of you may remember the “Boys Will Be Boys” workshop held last year, presented to us by Alexander Kopelman and his associate. They are now opening up the program to East Village Community School and will pick up any boys who register from our school and bring them to Earth School for the program where parents can pick them up at the end of the session. For more information click here. Registration Form

Due to the current snowy conditions the Chancellor has cancelled all afterschool activities.

Please note:
Dismissal will be at the regular time (2:50pm) pick up from the classroom!!
The extended day program will go ahead as usual from 2:50 – 3:40pm.
