A special workshop for EVCS parents with Alex Kopelman and Mark LaRivieri
When: March 5, 2013 @ 8:45 am
Where: Room 205 (2nd floor)
A growing body of evidence shows that traditional gender socialization can stand in the way of children’s healthy development. Boys suffer the consequences of outdate cultural norms and gender expectations as much as girls do. As adults — parents, teachers, school staff — we need to examine what our role in this may be, and what our boys need most from us.
Alex Kopelman and Mark La Rivieri founded the Children’s Arts Guild, an organization that helps children — especially boys — develop a healthy sense of self-worth through active exploration of creativity and the arts. They will lead us in a discussion of activities that focus on how we can best support our sons and daughters as they grow.
