EVCS Weekly, December 12

Dear Families and Guardians,

It’s hard to believe that it’s December and the new year is around the corner. We have been lucky so far with the mild weather but colder temperatures are sure to find us at some point.

DROP-OFF, DISMISSAL, AND RECESS IN THE WINTER: Some of you have been asking about where to go with your children, or where to pick up your children, when it is particularly cold outside. EVCS policy is to be outside unless it is precipitating – so unless it is raining or snowing, expect to be outside!

That’s the same criteria we use to determine whether or not we take the kids out for recess. We believe that children benefit from outdoor play, so please count on outdoor recess and make sure your child has appropriate cold weather clothing labeled with your child’s first and last name!!

When we do have an indoor arrival, students gather in the cafeteria. EVCS staff will then transition students upstairs to their classrooms. When we have an indoor dismissal, pick up for all students is in their classrooms. Please continue to use the door at the top of the schoolyard ramp on those days too – CWS is in the lobby during that time.

The Coat Drive has been running for 27 years and counting, thanks to generous New Yorkers like you!
We revised our collection dates: from Tuesday, November 29 through Friday, December 9. Please reach out to James if you have time to help out. Coats will be collected in the yard daily and stored until we donate them.
