Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to December! It’s the last month of the year – a month full of celebrations, friends, music, and a time to reflect and be thankful. We will kick off our annual winter coat drive this Monday. Please consider bringing in any gently used or new winter coats. Our traditional Festival of Lights is coming up on December 20. We hope families can join us for this special event. Our Parent Association is hosting a Holiday Makers Market Fair. Consider shopping to support local artisans on Wednesday, December 6 and again on Wednesday, December 20. Get more details below.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am thankful for parents, students and staff at EVCS who make up our amazing school family! Thank you for your Social Action with the Harvest Festival at the local Trinity Church soup kitchen and food pantry. We collected over 1200 cans this year! Nicely Done. Thanks to Julie Harwood for capturing this year’s Harvest Festival for all to share. View photos here! Enjoy.

At EVCS we go outside even when it gets cold. Please be sure to send your child to school with the proper jacket as temperatures begin to drop. Layering is also a good idea. Please clearly label all of your items.

There is a lot to look forward to when we return Monday, November 27
let’s get the details…

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Good news, the phones are working again!

We are officially kicking off Harvest Festival Month: Start Bringing
Non-Perishable Food Items to EVCS!
There will be boxes outside of each classroom to put your donations in. This is one of our favorite events of the year. This community wide event centers around teaching our children about food equity. It gives our kids the chance to take action. Keep an eye out for this flyer in your backpacks.

What else is coming up?

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Two full loads of goods were collected from EVCSers this week and delivered to the Firehouse on East 2nd Street for the Puerto Rico Relief effort. Thank you for your generous contributions! A shout out to Jenny, Ron and the EVCS students for helping organize and transport the goods to the firehouse. We are looking for more ways to help. Our school staff has been brainstorming short term and long term goals for further ways to support Puerto Rico. If you have an idea to share with us, please reach out to us.

Re: Arrival
Please remember to keep the flow of traffic moving in the morning! We ask that you take conversations, bikes and strollers to the west side of the main entrance, allowing families to get into the building easily in the morning.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Another full week and going strong!
This is one of the seasons when hair lice outbreaks seem to be most common. We want everyone to be proactive and aware. Lice are around and they are not particular to whom they keep company with. If you feel the need to learn a little about how to tackle these critters, please feel free to reach out to me.
