The Lucky Envelope

Joshua Bright for The New York Times

Dear Families,

We have a fundraising update for you which has all the makings of a great New York story so hunker down and lend us a moment….

Before Thanksgiving we printed up fundraising envelopes and sent them home in each child’s backpack with a suggestion to set the table with envelopes if napkins run out on turkey day. A few envelopes made it back and those, along with all of your generous online donations have brought us to 90% of our family donations goal for the year. This is great news and we thank you.

But, along the way, one of those envelopes fell out of a folder and onto the street. Turns out, that was the luckiest envelope of all.

A rockin’ good time at the Winter Jubilee!

Screen Shot 2017-01-16 at 6.50.43 PM
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We bet you had no idea our parents could unleash the inner rock star! Here’s hoping everyone enjoyed the passionate presentations especially when Georga got up there and sang her heart out with a pack of performers! Great job everyone.

Thanks again to the band Arlene’s World Famous Live.Rock Karaoke. for helping make our benefit a success. Thanks to all of the parents who showed up and to those who supported the event online. We appreciate all of you. There were more RSVP’s than ever with 119 responses. The best yet for a Jubilee. We raised more than last year AND came in slightly under budget! The Treasurer will make a brief report at this week’s General Parent Association Meeting on Wednesday Morning. We found a pink knit pom-pom hat and a pair of reading glasses if anyone is missing these items please reach out to James.

New Year’s Resolution Reminder

Happy holidays everyone – we hope you are enjoying the break and getting a chance to spend some quality time with friends and family. If you haven’t yet made a contribution, please consider taking a minute to offer your support.

Please contribute today

Your tax-deductible donation will help us pay for all the amazing programs offered to our children at EVCS. And, if we reach our goal before the end of the year, we can stop bugging you and start focusing on all the fun upcoming events like Jubilee on Jan. 15 and the Gala on April 29th. We are so close, please do what you can today.

Thank you and we wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.

Fundraising goal over 50% — can you help us reach 100%?

THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed — your generosity is a beautiful thing!

To date we’ve raised $23,365 in family contributions and commitments, that is more than 50% of our goal for the year.

The PA collects funds for programs that enrich each school day for our children. This includes everything from the theater, dance, rock band and chess program to child care for PA meetings, after-school scholarships and even lice checks. We know, you don’t want to be reminded of lice so we promise if you donate today and we meet our goal by the end of the year we will not mention lice again (we’ll leave that to the class parents 🙂

Please contribute today

And we understand that $500 is a lot to ask. If you can handle it, bless you. If you can’t please don’t sweat it — how about $100, or $50? Or you can take that $100 donation and make it in ten monthly installments of $10, if that’s better for you?
We are aiming for 100% family participation at whatever level works for each family.

EVCS needs you

Dear EVCS Families

It was great to see so many of you singing loud and proud on Monday morning at School Wide Morning Meeting. We needed that!

And we need you. The success of the East Village Community School depends on direct contributions from families. Your contributions allow our school to be more inclusive, more diverse and more engaging for our children.

The PA needs to raise $77,430 this school year to pay for all the expenses we collectively agreed to cover. That includes everything from the theater, dance, rock band and chess program to child care for PA meetings and after-school scholarships. To date we have raised about $20,000 so we have a long way to go!

We ask that every family consider giving a suggested donation of $500. This can include corporate or small business donors as well as grandparents and close friends and monthly contributions can be automatically debited.

Click here to make your tax deductible contribution today:

We value each and every one of you and thank you for any contribution you are able to make.
