EVCS Local Craft Fair this Wednesday

Dear All,

Join us at the EVCS Holiday Craft Fair this Wednesday, Dec 6 from 8-10:30am & 2-6pm in the EVCS lobby!

Buying hand made gifts from makers in our community is more than just a convenient way to find something special. By supporting local artisans you are helping to make sure that the East Village and NYC continue to be a place where artists and local business people can live and thrive. And a percentage of each sale will go towards the EVCS PA – really, what could be better?

But wait, there is more…. EVCS parent Josephine Schiele will be setting up a family portrait station from 2-6PM in the lobby. Perfect for holiday cards or gifts, an emailed digital photo will cost $10 and all proceeds go to the EVCS PA. Drop in only, no need to sign up.

Sincerely,
EVCS Fundraising Committee

PS – there will be another holiday craft fair on Dec 20th during the Festival of Lights
PPS – spread the word, all are invited / EVCS Lobby, 610 East 12th Street (Between Ave B and Ave C)

Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday – it sort of seems like there is something you need to be doing every day of the week!

Which is why we are coming to you today, on We Forgot Wednesday. Perhaps you have been meaning to make that family contribution of $650 to EVCS but with all the things to do you just keep forgetting – we get that. After all, we forgot to send out an email on Giving Tuesday!

But don’t worry, your contribution to the EVCS PA is just as needed today as any other day of the year. And as always, all donations to the EVCS PA are fully tax deductible and every dollar you give goes to benefit the students at EVCS. Help us reach our goal!

EVCS-Thermo 27 465

Dear All,

Thank you to everyone who made a donation. Our thermometer is moving… but we still have a long way to go!

For those who have not yet donated, we want to remind you of a few things to provide some motivation:

1. For the past several years class parents were asked to raise funds for their classroom, this was called Sponsor a Classroom. The result was that some classrooms were routinely over funded and others struggled. This seemed unfair so starting this year all classrooms will receive $1,000 from the PA. That means, no more asks after shares. It also means that donating to the PA will directly support pipe cleaners and googly eyes and field trips for your child.
2. Were you pleasantly surprised when you got the welcome letter from teachers in August and saw that there were very few supplies you needed to purchase? That is because the supplies were purchased in bulk for each class. And even though August seems like a million years ago at this point, we hope you will pay forward these savings to the PA.
Please contribute today

Thank you for your support,

Donation based Pilates Mat Class @ EVCS

Pilates

We are happy to introduce a new parent-led activity with ALL proceeds going to the EVCS PA!

LuAnn Leonard-Johns, EVCS parent and certified Pilates instructor, has offered to teach a weekly Pilates Mat class on Tuesday mornings after drop off. Our first class will be Tuesday October 24 from 8:30-9:15 in the movement room (Room 412) on the 4th floor.

LuAnn has 14 years of teaching experience in the Joseph Pilates technique and will lead us through a series of core strengthening and muscle lengthening exercises. No prior experience necessary.

The suggested donation for the class is $10 and ALL proceeds will go to the EVCS PA. What a great way to start your day and get fit with friends while supporting EVCS. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one (we also will have some on hand).

Brought to you by the EVCS Fundraising Committee

PS – If you have a great idea like this, want to lend a hand or have questions please drop us an email at fundraising@evcsnyc.org

EVCS PA NEEDS YOU

Screen Shot 2017-10-18 at 3.50.14 PM

Dear Families,

The school year finally feels underway, kids are adjusted, routines have been established and the Fall weather has arrived. We hope you have had a chance to make it to a School Wide Morning Meeting, if not, please consider making some time to come to the next one because there is really no better way to start your week, the calendar is HERE.

We also want to let you know that the EVCS Parent Association is in the middle of our biggest fundraiser of the year. It’s not an event. You don’t have to get dressed up or find a babysitter or get on stage and sing (that is coming later).

Please contribute today

But YOU do need to take action. Right now.

General PA (and Fall Ball) meeting Recap

Hi EVCS Families,

In case you had to miss our General PA meeting last Wed. (and the quick Fall Ball meeting after) here’s a recap:

We approved our 2017-18 PA Budget!
This year the PA will be helping fund so many great things at school. The South Street Seaport Partnership, the Recess enhancement program, Dancing classrooms, Chess, Alvin Ailey, Rock Band and much more. Also a big change this year, the PA will be funding the individual Classroom Accounts (aka SAC) which will pay for each classroom’s in-class project work and field trips. In previous years these accounts were funded directly by the classes’ families, this year all classrooms will be funded equitably by the whole PA. This is lining up to be a great and exciting year for our kids!

That said, we, the PA, are called upon to raise these funds. We will do this through direct family contributions, grade-wide bake sales, our fun annual Events, grant applications and other smaller fundraising ventures. We discussed at the meeting that the best way to contribute directly to the Family Fund is by check (or online bank transfer), to save on fees.

We also want to remind families that whether or not you are able to contribute money, the PA always needs contributions of your input, time and sweat equity at all of our events and sales. There are many many ways to help support our school.

We elected 4 new members to our School Leadership Team and we voted in a Co-Treasurer.
Thank you to Anne Buovolo, Cresta Kruger, Melanie Kletter, and Katie Pawluk for joining the SLT this year and representing all of us parents. And thank-you to Kama Geary for stepping up to help with the PA book-keeping!

Help for Puerto Rico.
On Tuesday and Wednesday (10/3 & 10/4) of this week EVCS will be collecting much needed goods for Puerto Rico.
Please bring donations of Diapers • Baby Food • Batteries • First Aid Supplies • Feminine hygiene products. *Only new and unopened items can be accepted. Parent volunteers (Ron B. and Jenny K.) will be stationed with vehicles near the double gates at the end of the closed school yard, towards Avenue C. Once collected, donations will be brought to the Fire House on East 2nd Street.
