The first day of after school will be Monday September 11. Families can register in one of three ways – over the phone, in person at school beginning September 5, or online. Details at the link above.

We are looking forward to another great year partnering with MMCC to run our after school program. If you have any questions please reply to afterschool@evcsnyc.org.

See you soon,

AfterSchool Spring ’17 | we’re still open if you are…

98b9eb1e-bd26-4cac-8738-2cea97908513

Hello Families – I hope all is well in your universe. AfterSchool’s universe feels much the same with a different spin or orbit to it.
So we’re paying close attention to the “pull” of some of our courses – both tried and trusted and new favorites.

The following classes are currently still open but need a boost and some TLC: Gardening, Doll Making, Percussion, Harmony, Beginners Karate, DJ Rock & Soul School, Book-Make-Curate, Elementary Drums, Studio Dance and FRIDAY’S On Cue (Theater Production).
Heads up that those classes which were not mentioned may only have limited slots if any and that STEM courses are, generally, very full.

Take a moment to read through the new pricing (all inclusive flat fee of $300 per weekday from 2:55 – 5:55PM for approx 16 sessions), set up, dismissal times and policies here to orient yourself around this latest evolution.

If you’re interested in registering, please take a look at the class description and bios here for more information as well as our handy weekly mini calendar of scheduled AfterSchool courses for your planning convenience, then call in your registration at our new organizational partner (MMCC) at 718-882-4000 ext. 0 by asking for Mariah. She will be able to double check availability on any course so feel free to inquire! And please have a credit card handy for payment.

Thank you for investing in the longevity of this family resource!!!

All my best,

Camille Marlow, Director

AfterSchool | Winding Down, Gearing Up

The Last Long Love Letter

Welcome to a brand new year for AfterSchool,

Many of us have been working behind the scenes to ensure the viability of AfterSchool. To that point, thanks to James Bromberg and PA Presidents Catharine and Annette for keeping folks informed about the collective series of meetings treating this issue since the beginning days of this academic year. Whether at the AfterSchool Advisory Committee (ASAC), Executive and General PA meetings and even the SLT; together we covered critical topics on how best to move forward. Most important, we did so as a community. Given all that “processing” – you are likely aware that we are on precipice of a nascent partnership with an outside organization. Mosholu aka MMCC (http://www.mmcc.org/) is the organization officially taking over for the PA effective this upcoming Spring 2017 semester.

Open House + Holiday Concert Invite

Ladies and Gents,

First I want to extend a warm welcome to attend AfterSchool’s annual Low Key Open House all next week, December 19 – 23 from 4:30 – 5PM. We have extended this effort this year to the entire program. We understand that there are heavy demands on your time, especially at this time of year parents. Please do not put too much pressure on yourselves as we are, for the time being, planning on end of semester shares (circa mid February). Quick disclaimer – we are in an unprecedented moment. We have a great deal going on in preparation for a new partnership with MMCC (http://www.mmcc.org/) about which you have heard from Principal Bradley, at Parent Association, AfterSchool Advisory Committee and other meetings of late. **I promise to be in touch with more details about this soon.** But for now, I ask your understanding as we’ve been focused on making preparations and bracing ourselves for shifts and changes accordingly. Also, we are shooting for end of semester shares but are not completely certain what to expect as we approach the future.

Second, thanks to our own Moses St. Bernard, an invitation to a holiday concert at Carnegie Hall has been extended to our families. Moses writes…
