Syrian Project
On Thursday our entire school came together to listen to the NY Arabic Orchestra. Our 4th and 5th graders are studying the Syrian refugee crisis. Below are some age-appropriate resources we have been using in class for reference.

* Video explaining what a refugee is
* Story about a 17-year old Syrian poet:
* Video about a Syrian family that moved to Iowa
* Video about a refugee camp in Jordan

Free, private Minecraft server just for EVCS kids!
This is a vanilla survival server, no mods (no frustrating IT work for parents), and no cheats. This is about planning, being creative, building and surviving. There are administrators online most of the time to help moderate chat, and instruct in gameplay.
Did you know? Minecraft is being used by education programs around the world to teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) fundamentals, JSON (Javascript) programming and computer logic. It’s as much of a game engine as it is a game itself. Via Minecraft’s built in logic system called Redstone, kids can learn about logic operations and build functioning machines, even computers, inside the game!

If your kids play Minecraft on PC and would like to join a private kid-friendly moderated Minecraft server, email tristan.waldroop@gmail.com Include your child’s Minecraft player name.

Email Tristan and Instructions will follow. (no mobile devices)

Have a wonderful weekend.
And remember to celebrate mom and the other great women in your life on Sunday!

All best wishes,
