Open House + Holiday Concert Invite

Ladies and Gents,

First I want to extend a warm welcome to attend AfterSchool’s annual Low Key Open House all next week, December 19 – 23 from 4:30 – 5PM. We have extended this effort this year to the entire program. We understand that there are heavy demands on your time, especially at this time of year parents. Please do not put too much pressure on yourselves as we are, for the time being, planning on end of semester shares (circa mid February). Quick disclaimer – we are in an unprecedented moment. We have a great deal going on in preparation for a new partnership with MMCC (http://www.mmcc.org/) about which you have heard from Principal Bradley, at Parent Association, AfterSchool Advisory Committee and other meetings of late. **I promise to be in touch with more details about this soon.** But for now, I ask your understanding as we’ve been focused on making preparations and bracing ourselves for shifts and changes accordingly. Also, we are shooting for end of semester shares but are not completely certain what to expect as we approach the future.

Second, thanks to our own Moses St. Bernard, an invitation to a holiday concert at Carnegie Hall has been extended to our families. Moses writes…

“Tis the season of giving. Katya Grineva , classical pianist is performing a Holiday concert at Carnegie Hall on Dec 27th and she is extending a special gift for kids. With every adult admission, up to two kids can attend for free. Katya has played throughout the United States, Guam, Europe, South America, Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines. She is the only female solo pianist to have performed in the distinguished Carnegie Hall Isaac Stern auditorium a record sixteen times. Katya’s annual holiday concert is a beloved seasonal event. ‘Attending a holiday concert is part of the essence of Christmas in New York City,’ says Katya. ‘I hope to bring holiday cheer to all who attend.’ Her playing has been described as ‘having warmth and seamless fluidity…class and charisma that draw her audience into her music (Dr. Roberta on the Arts),’ and as being ‘liquid…dreamlike (The New York Times).’
Thank you Moses!!! Head to carnegiehall.org for tickets or be sure to reach out to Moses at the following email address with any questions. He will be managing this invitation on behalf of AfterSchool: adminafterschool@evcsnyc.org

I’ll be in touch with more updates but for now…

Happiest Holidays,

Camille
