EVCS School Routines and The First Two Days

Dear Families,

We are very excited to start another great year with all of you next week!
A few important announcements in the meantime:

The first day of school is Thursday, September 8th.

PreK and Kindergarten arrival and dismissal on the first and second days of school (Thursday, 9/8 and Friday, 9/9):
PreK and Kindergarten students will go directly to their classrooms with their parents at 8:30am on both days. Dismissal for PreK and Kindergarten students is at 11:30am from the classroom on Thursday, 9/8. On Friday, 9/9, PreK students will again be dismissed from their classrooms at11:30am. Kindergarten students will begin regular dismissal in the schoolyard at 2:50pm. PreK and Kindergarten students will begin regular arrival with the older students on Tuesday, 9/13 which will be a full day of school for everyone.

1st-5th grade students will say goodbye to their parents in the schoolyard and walk up to their classrooms with their teachers at 8:30am starting on the first day of school. Dismissal for grades 1-5 is at our regular time of 2:50pm beginning the very first day of school.

Regular Arrival Routine:
Our official start time is 8:30am. Students are invited to arrive as early as 8:00am for a free breakfast in the cafeteria and/or play time in the school yard. We will have EVCS staff in both of those areas supervising, so parents are welcome to drop kids off then or stay and hang out until the bell rings. The bell rings at 8:30am, at which point the students will line up with their classes in their designated spots and the teachers will take the students up to the classrooms to start the day.

Regular Dismissal Routine:
Dismissal is at 2:50pm — Please pick-up in the yard each day.
We ask that everyone make a strong effort to pick up their children on time. Please be mindful of your child and the school providers to help us keep the schedules running smoothly. We appreciate your support here.

Indoor Arrival / Dismissal:
Please note that we will always make an effort to have our regular outdoor arrival/dismissal routines, but will revert to our indoor routine if the weather or safety conditions in the yard prevent us from being outside. In the event that we have indoor arrival, our younger students (PreK and K) can be dropped off directly in their classrooms and the older students (1st-5th) will be chaperoned up to the classrooms from the cafeteria starting at8:25am. If students arrive before 8:25 they can stay in the cafeteria. In the afternoon, all students will wait in their classrooms to be picked up by their caregivers.

To minimize traffic in our shared building, we ask that during indoor arrival/dismissal EVCS parents use the entrance to the building located in our schoolyard at the top of the ramp, and not the main lobby entrance.

I look forward to seeing everyone next Thursday morning.

All best wishes,
James
