School Wide Morning Meeting Message 11/16/2015

November 16, 2015

Dear EVCS Students,

Welcome to School-wide morning meeting!

Some of you may have noticed that the bulletin board in the 4th floor hallway near our main office is all about the Habits of Mind.  Each month our friends in the 5th grade have been decorating the bulletin board with helpful information about the Habit of Mind of the Month.  Please be sure to take a look at the bulletin board to learn more about this month’s Habit of Mind and to get a preview of which Habits of Mind are coming up in the following months.  Thanks very much to the 5th graders for their beautiful work!

Listening with UnderstandingWe’ve seen many great examples of students listening with understanding and empathy in the classroom, especially during whole-class discussions, during turn-and-talk shares and during partner reading time.  Evelyn’s Pre-K class is reading buddies with Caroline and Louise’s 2nd grade class. Take a look at all of these wonderful examples of students listening to each other with understanding during buddy reading.

Casey and Ansel are also listening with understanding as Elias reads aloud.

We have a tradition at EVCS of collecting cans of food every November for our Harvest Festival.  The food we collect will help feed people right here in our community who are hungry and don’t have enough food to eat.  It’s one way that we help take care of each other in our community!  It’s very important to be kind and generous and I’m proud of our school for doing a good job in taking care of others.   Have you brought in cans of food for the Harvest Festival yet?

Please  keep up the good work in listening to each other with understanding and empathy and let’s also not forget about managing impulsivity and persisting!  Have a great day.

Love,

Bradley
